![]() Any one have any experience with this sub, or SVS products in general? Also, I'd be interested in any other small subs that work well with the LS50, and I know quite a few members have experience with the LS50. This is a sealed sub with a 12 inch woofer and a 300 watt amp. Evidently the Kef engineers don’t think crossing at 350Hz is too high. So for LS50, I wouldn’t hesitate to cross to a subwoofer at as high a frequency as possible, so long as the sub cabinet is collocated with the LS50. So far, the top candidate is the SVS SB1000. Blade One crossovers are at 350/2k, Blade Two at 450/2.2k, R3 at 400/2.9k. I would like to get a small sub which will integrate easily with the KEFs. My room is a small square and the speakers are set in a diagonal configuration. ![]() Slowly adjust the subwoofer gain to the point where you can hear the bass begin to fill in the bottom end. On your AVR’s control menu, set the subwoofer output all the way down (infinity). This makes me think about getting a sub to compliment them. Set the amplifier on the subwoofer (Gain Control) to around 75 and play a song or a scene from a movie you are familiar with (and that has lots of bass). I feel I could live with these for a long time if there was just a bit more bass. After fiddling with speaker position and toe-in, in particular, the sound gelled and Ms Chapman's vocals snapped in to perfect focus. I think the LS50 Metas could work well with a crossover at 150-200 Hz or so. ![]() I would surmise that the R3 has a better mid-bass reproduction than the LS50 for exemple. Hard to describe, but it sounded a bit ragged. Im thinking about moving from KEF LS50s to KEF R3s if there is something to be gained by doing so. Last night while listening to Tracy Chapman's debut album I noticed a bit of discontinuity in her vocals when in the sweet spot. While I don't feel they lack bass for their size, I sure wouldn't mind them going a tad lower. I bought these speakers recently through the classified section here and am really impressed with them so far.
